Review: After releasing the disastrous third outing and an atrocious origin story, the 'X-Men' universe finally gets a proper revamp it long deserves by director Matthew Vaughn. Set in the ever retro 1960's era, the prequel explores the myth (much like a bromance tale between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King) behind the complex relationship between Professor X and Magneto. Stylishly shot with trails of James Bond-ish groove, the game of espionage is well played within the woven theme of political tension and ideological differences set in a historically accurate backdrop (See how they smartly tie in the Cuban Missile Crisis..). The real highlight of the film seems to be the near impeccable chemistry between McAvoy and Fassbender. Both gentlemen have portrayed their characters with class of their own, thus producing such intense chemistry and strong friction in terms of their frequent on-screen interaction. Although the franchise timeline is irreversibly spoilt, most of the new mutant characters introduced are characteristically sufficient in overwriting a few minor tweaks and inaccuracies derived from the original trilogy. In conclusion, the 'X-Men' franchise is back again in good hands.
