Synopsis
At New York's Central Park Zoo, a lion, a zebra, a giraffe, and a hippo are best friends and stars of the show. But when one of the animals goes missing from their cage, the other three break free to look for him, only to find themselves reunited ... on a ship en route to Africa. When their vessel is hijacked, however, the friends, who have all been raised in captivity, learn first-hand what life can be like in the wild.

Review
Madagascar is a fun outing, a wacky journey putting up the unlikeliest group of zoo animals together in a detour towards the wild. Under the unsuspecting fish-out-of-water circumstances, the jolly gang ends up learning a few things 'bout themselves and settle their differences by adapting to the jungle life. As a starter to the successful franchise, the humor content in this first instalment is obviously milder than the outrageous second outing, but the overall colourful settings and presence of lively characters have made 'Madagascar' a fun watch.
