Synopsis: Major William Cage is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again...and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski. And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.
Review: After last year's lacklustre 'Oblivion', Cruise control is back again with yet another impressive sci-fi outing. Directed by Doug Liman ('The Bourne Identity', the atrocious 'Jumper'), 'Edge Of Tomorrow' might be the most action-packed summer release of the year yet. Dubbed as 'Groundhog Day' meets 'Source Code' and 'Elysium', the film implements and executes such concepts into creating a new cinematic sense of originality even though the story is an adaptation of Japanese light novel ('All You Need Is Kill' by Hiroshi Sakurazaka). Intense and rapidly paced at lightning speed with time-travel intercuts and awesome CGIs, both Cruise and Blunt made a sexy, charming pair that is fun to watch. Brilliant script and solid performance aside, the stunning, high-octane cinematography is graced by the depiction of a dark, grimy apocalyptic future that is run by the most aggressive alien race yet to be brought to the screen (the Mimics are a real deal.). In conclusion, believe the hype, this movie's gonna keep you at the edge of your seat.
